A late add may be pursued only if a student was unable to add a course by the add/drop deadline due to extraordinary circumstances. A student must obtain a letter of support from the instructor to submit with the petition. If the petition for a late add is approved, the student must be prepared to pay the tuition fees at the time of approval.

Late Drop: If approved, a late drop will result in a full refund of tuition fees and the complete removal of the course from the student's academic record. Because there is a refund of tuition involved, a late drop requires the student to be involved in a truly extraordinary situation. A common reason to pursue a late drop is if there was a death of an immediate family member. A late drop must be filed within six (6) months of the end of the semester involved. A late drop is usually for all classes.

A late withdrawal does not refund tuition fees. If a late withdrawal is approved by Academic Services, a grade of "Withdraw Passing" (WP) or "Withdraw Failing" (WF) will be assigned by theinstructor according to the student's academic performance. A "WP" has no effect on the GPA and a "WF" is calculated as a failing grade in the GPA. Talk to your professor before pursuing a late withdrawal petition.

A Medical Withdrawal
is requested when students are suffering from a medical condition that prevents the completion of the semester. If a student is approved for medical withdrawal, a refund of tuition fees is also approved. The student receives a "WM" which indicates on the academic record the student was withdrawn from classes due to medical reasons. If the student was aware of the medical condition at the time of registration, the petition will be denied.
