A late withdrawal does not refund tuition fees. If a late withdrawal is approved by Academic Services, a grade of "Withdraw Passing" (WP) or "Withdraw Failing" (WF) will be assigned by the instructor according to the student's academic performance. A "WP" has no effect on the GPA and a "WF" is calculated as a failing grade in the GPA. Talk to your professor before pursuing a late withdrawal petition. Your professor should be informed of your intent to change the registration status of your class(es).
• Undergraduate students who wish to file late withdrawal petitions should go to Academic Services in Millican Hall 210. Graduate students should go to Office of Graduate Studies at Millican Hall 230.
• Contact Academic Services for information on how to file a petition and as to whether or not it is an appropriate request. The form will be given by the adviser.
• Read the instructions and definitions on the petition form explaining administrative record changes.
• Complete the petition form and write a separate statement explaining why the student was not able to withdraw from the class by the deadline. If you are only late withdrawing out of part of your classes, you will need to explain why you are only withdrawing out of select classes and why you are able to complete other classes. Include dates, details, and any documentation that supports your explanation.
• Obtain a copy of your registration schedule from the Registrar's Office or print a copy from myUCF website -- NOT a fee invoice. Attach copy to your petition.
• If you have any type of financial assistance from the Office of Financial Assistance, you must have them sign off on the petition form before you turn it in.
• If you are an international student with F1/J1 visa, you must have the Office of International Student and Scholar Services sign off on the petition form before you turn it in.
• All copies of the petition forms must be legible and with complete information. Any documentation not in the English language must be translated by proper authority before submitting with the petition forms.
• Return the completed petition paperwork to Academic Services, Millican Hall 210.
• Your late withdrawal request will take approximately two to four weeks to review. If a late withdrawal is not approved, students will be responsible for all course requirements including grades earned.
If you have read and understood these rules and procedures and wish to continue with this process, email Academic Services or come into our office in Millican Hall 210 and inform us of your desire to continue with the petition process.
