A late add may be pursued only if you were unable to add a course by the add/drop deadline due to extraordinary circumstances. You must obtain a letter of support from the instructor to submit with the petition. If the petition for a late add is approved, you must be prepared to pay the tuition fees at the time of approval. Late adds are not usually approved beyond the second week of classes unless there are exceptionally well-documented extenuating circumstances involving administrative error, faculty error, or extraordinary complications.

    • Undergraduate students who wish to file a late add petition should go to Academic Services in Millican Hall 210. The office will provide information on how to file a petition and the general appropriateness of the request. The form will be given to you by the advisor. Graduate students should go to Office of Graduate Studies at Millican Hall 230.

    • Read the instructions and definitions on the petition form explaining administrative record changes.

    • Complete the petition form and write a separate statement explaining why you were not able to enroll in the class by the last day of add/drop. Include dates, details, and any documentation that supports your explanation.

    • Obtain a copy of your registration schedule from the Registrar's Office or print a copy from myUCF website -- and attach it to your petition.

    • If you have any type of financial assistance from the Office of Financial Assistance, you must have them sign off on the petition form before you turn it in.

    • If you are an international student with F1/J1 visa, you must have the Office of International Student and Scholar Services sign off on the petition form before you turn it in.

    • You must have a permission letter or letter of support from the instructor of the course you wish to add. The letter should be on a UCF department letterhead with your name and PID, the correct class, section number, credits and instructor's name and original signature. The letter must also be dated within seven (7) business days of filing the late add petition.

    • You must resolve any hold(s) on your account that will prevent the processing of late add at the time of the approval.

    • Return the completed petition paperwork to Academic Services, Millican Hall 210.

    • Your late add request will be reviewed as soon as possible. Remember that you are not officially enrolled in the class until such time as the late add is approved.

If you have read and understood these rules and procedures and wish to continue with this process, email Academic Services or come into our office in Millican Hall 210 and inform us of your desire to continue with the petition process.
